A Day in the Life

You’ve earned a high school diploma—now what? Your future is wide open, and there are many different career options you could pursue with a high school diploma. However, the sheer number of opportunities available to you can also make choosing a career path that’s right for you a bit daunting.

Although the choice is difficult, you’ll still need to make a decision so you can start earning money as soon as possible. That’s why Southwest Pipe Trades Association’s unions offer quality apprenticeship training programs and union opportunities. With these programs and opportunities, you will be able to earn money to support yourself while furthering your education and gaining invaluable work experience.

SWPTA consists of 13 unions located in New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. For over a century, our unions have serviced, trained, and prepared apprentices for long-term careers in a variety of fields. Our goal is to assist you in gaining the necessary tools and knowledge to achieve success. This is your chance to provide an invaluable service to hardworking Americans across the country and enter a field where your work truly makes a difference to others.

There’s never been a better time to join our unions’ comprehensive training program and start work as an apprentice—be it as an HVAC technician, pipefitter, plumber, welder, fire sprinkler installer, or a variety of other roles. We guarantee that you’ll be put in the best position to enjoy a long, successful career.

Our unions’ training programs give you the opportunity to earn right away while providing the education and necessary skill sets for a bright future in one of our union contractor positions. As an apprentice, you will spend every day honing your craft and working your way toward the career you’ve always envisioned but never had the opportunity to pursue. You’ll have a chance to learn not only about industry best practices but also advanced techniques commonly used in your field.

In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to work in entry-level roles alongside experienced contractors. In this role, you’ll be able to continue your education during the day. In the evening, you will receive hands-on training from our qualified instructors. After undergoing a comprehensive training program, you’ll do more than build a future for you and your family—you’ll have the chance to help build America.

There’s never a shortage of work; every building has a project and those projects need to be completed. As a union contractor affiliated with SWPTA, your job is not just limited to one or two industries. You can expect to work with local businesses, schools, hospitals, and government facilities and even help with national security.

Our reach has never been wider. We offer positions in a variety of locations so you can help honest Americans like yourself and provide them with comprehensive, safe, and cost-effective services. There’s never been a better way to make a positive impact on so many people while earning a living and furthering your education.

There are countless fields to pursue, many of which require experience that’s impossible to have attained when you’re just starting out. Southwest Pipe Trades Association understands this, which is why SWTPA-affiliated unions offer affordable, comprehensive education and training programs from our best and brightest instructors. Choosing a career path shouldn’t feel like a burden—at SWPTA, it’s our instructors’ job to make this the easiest decision you’ve ever made.
